26 weeks!

Once again, I forgot to post on Sunday...

We have a 3D/4D ultasound scheduled for Thursday, so hopefully we will get a good look at Hosanna's face then!

T-BALL!!!

Finally, on the fifth try, we had a GAME! A game without rain! WOO-HOO!

And oh my goodness, 4-5s TBall is SO funny! There are no outs (because none of the kids can really make any outs), and every child gets to bat during the inning. They usually only play 2 innings, but today they played 3 to "make up" for one of the rained-out games.

Moses was ALL OVER THE FIELD. He played every position at some point! Hi Grampy joked that he ran 450 miles in the game today. He was everywhere! And he found a softball helmet in the dugout that he WOULD NOT take off. Even in the field.

The VBS closing program was tonight. OH MY!

ZuZu was there, too!

...yet still no Tball game.


I thought I was REALLY smart this time. I didn't even tell Moses where we were going. When we got out of the car, I whipped his shirt out and put it on him, and sent him out to the field. But within 30 seconds, there was cloud-to-ground lightning in the distance. The boys (and girls) did get to play a little catch while waiting for Tball pictures. But because the photographer was taking her sweet time (seriously, in the 15 minutes we were there, she didn't take any pictures of the kids on our team- and there were only about 15 kids there for both teams), our team didn't even get its picture done.


SO, I thought I better post these pics. They might be the closest thing to a game that Moses has this summer!











We were there long enough, however, for me to decide that I might not be quite ready for Moses to play organized sports. We had been there for 30 seconds when a snotty little kid (all decked out in official baseball pants, etc.) turned to his dad and said in a sneering little voice, "They're supposed to have their shirts tucked in."


Now, let me lay this all out. This is 4-5s TBall. It's so casual that there are only 4 games, and there are no practices. Multiple parents stand out in the field to give the kids direction. No need for the snottiness.


And K told me that while they were waiting for pictures, Moses asked one of the other boys what his name was- and the boy ignored him.


Grrrr.

And, I will be "that" mom who pulls her child off the field for lightning. I was seriously freaking out as the storm rolled in, watching the lightning and seeing the photographer NOT hustle, seeing the couches just stand around chatting... Seriously, this is Tball. Call the game and get the kids off the field!


If it's like this now, what is it going to be like when it is little league? I am so not ready for this...

Ahhhhh, relaxation!

It has been a busy weekend so far, and since I don't want our kids to be those "typical PKs" that HAVE to be in the church every time the doors are opened (and we were there last night), the kids and I stayed home this morning. I hate to admit it, but it was SO NICE.

It also gave us some time to get K's presents ready. Moses always likes to decorate with stickers, but I had no idea that ZuZu would be so good at it! She did the present below. Granted, one sticker is torn (and wasn't intended to be on this package- it was a "WWJD" sticker that I had given to her just to keep her occupied...), but overall, I thought her motor skills quite advanced!

Moses and I also made a carrot cake for K (his favorite).

You will notice that the kids are still in their pajamas. Again, it was all about relaxation this morning. :)

Moses then took the wrapping paper, wrapped it around himself, and declared himself Jesus....

Guess we'll let that one slide for now. But if he is still doing the same thing in Jr. High, then I might decide that we skipped too many Sundays like this one. :)

For the 3rd Saturday in a row...

... NO T-ball pics. Because the came was rained out. AGAIN.

Well, actually, today's was more flooded-out. It was bright and sunny, but the field was covered in water. Wonderful.

BUT, we did at least get to go forth with our "Father's Day" plans for K- our church was supposed to be having a meal after church tomorrow followed by the annual board meeting, so we planned a scenic drive and picnic for K for today.

We drove about 20 miles north of where we live, along the Mississippi River road on the other side of the river. We had never driven that side before, and it was beautiful. And since Moses loves the Mississippi River, he enjoyed it, too.

We picnicked in a beautiful gazebo in a forgotten old river town right on the river. And I do mean RIGHT ON THE RIVER.

Since it was our Father's Day celebration, I tried to get some pictures of K with the kids. But ZuZu wasn't so into cooperating today...

Moses was all over the place, so it was hard to catch him in a picture...

But I LOVE that he prefers to swing in the baby swings so that he can be with ZuZu while she swings. What a sweetie!

ZuZu was a little slower, but tried to keep up with her big brother...

She got this far on the ladder, and that is where her bravery ended. Thank goodness!

After the park, we stopped on the way home at Wendy's for frosties. If you haven't done so, GO THIS WEEKEND and buy a frosty-- Wendy's is donating 50 cents from every frosty to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption! Great deal!

And of course, after all of that play and then sweetness, we needed food. Nothing like having two lunches! Now THAT is K's kind of Father's Day celebration!

We got to have a bit of down time before heading to the church tonight for a concert. Everyone came home dead tired. After I got ZuZu down, this is where I found K:

Hopefully that translates into kids that sleep well!

Little Miss Muffet

Finally, a pool day!

Between work and rain, there hasn't been a day to go to the pool (and I LOVE our city pool). So when I saw over the weekend that today was supposed to 88 and sunny, I was hoping the forecast would hold out, and it did! Of course, it is supposed to rain 8 out of the next 10 days, but we will take the sunshine while we can.

The kids were SO excited-- although ZuZu wasn't quite sure what she thought of it once she was in.




Moses, on the other hand, was in and making friends right away (as usual).




But who wouldn't want to be friends with this cutie?

Anyway, ZuZu did eventually get a braver. And when we took her into the deeper water, she voluntarily put her face in several times, and would kick her legs when I would help her "float" on her back. She was quite the little fish!


ZuZu also experienced her first ring pop when we had snacks afterward- and LOVED it


Both kids were so good, but one of them was NOT happy when we wouldn't let her back in the water...


We can't wait for the next sunny free evening- hopefully we will have one again before fall! :)

Buddies

FINALLY, a day without rain! So Moses got to go over to his best buddy's house tonight to ride bikes and have ice cream.

But just because it didn't actually RAIN, doesn't mean that it was DRY:

But of course, riding your bike keeps you too far away from the water. Who needs a bike, when you can run through the water?

And I think two kids huddled together in one of these things is one of the cutest things ever:

AND, since I missed it yesterday.... 24 weeks!!!

No T-ball pics today...

...because the game was rained out AGAIN! This time, I thought I was smart; I waited until 8:00 this morning to even tell Moses that he had a game today-- I didn't want to risk the disappointment we had last week. When I checked the radar, there were just little splotches here and there. So I told him he had a game. And 15 minutes later-- a torrential downpour and crazy lightning.

Poor little guy! The 4-year-olds only have 4 games in a summer. So 50% of his have been rained out already!

But the day was not a total loss. Moses got McDonald's for breakfast; "MaMa" and "PaPa" were here for a while today (they had been en route to the game when it got canceled); Moses and I made cupcakes; and we enjoyed them after a "picnic" on the porch.

At least, I think it is a good assumption that the cupcakes were enjoyed-- what do you think?



It was ZuZu's first cupcake-- and I took her kisses (she is blowing kisses in the picture below) as the highest compliment I could receive!

Yep, that's my son!

It's just a hunch, but I think I am raising a book lover!

He signed up for summer reading on Tuesday at the library. For his age category, he is supposed to read 20 books this summer... yeah, we're on 28 already, and that's including a few times I turned him down!

Can you say, "Ready for the weekend"?!

It has been one LONG week, culminating in ZuZu getting shots this afternoon. We are so ready for the weekend around here! Looking forward to a free night tomorrow night, and Moses' first T-ball game on Saturday. He got his shirt and hat today- he is the Orange team, and so proud of it!

Some more "firsts"

It was a big day of sorts around here- a number of "firsts" happened.

After supper, ZuZu decided to climb up on the table and help herself to Moses' uneaten apple, attempting to eat an entire apple for the first time:

There were little teeth marks in it, but that was about it.

We took our weekly trip to Walmart tonight, but we had a surprise in the Mountaineer for ZuZu- a "big girl seat"! She is FINALLY big enough to have a seat facing forward, so we moved her into Moses' old seat (so he keeps calling it ZuZu's "big boy seat"). At first she didn't know what to think, and she spent most of the trip there mesmerized by the fact that she could see out the windows. But we did get a few smiles (at least, her brother did- she was pretty excited to be able to see him better!)

On the way back, she was jabbering and pointing things out to us that she had never been able to see before:

On a different note, we also had our first "owie" of the summer tonight. From what we understand, Moses took quite a tumble on the sidewalk next to the garage. His knee was, well, bloody, to say the least....

We asked him if anything else hurt, and he said "no." But then during supper, a little red was showing through his hair, and this is what I found:


OUCH! So we cleaned that up and got some neosporin on it, too. Here is what the knee owie looked like a few hours later, even after having a bath:

He's a tough little guy!

Praying the rest of the weekend is not quite so "eventful"!
