We have a graduate!

Moses graduated from preschool last week- and I know it is trite, but... WHERE DID THE TIME GO?

Tomorrow I am going to post first day/last day pics... but here are the graduation pictures! Moses was hilarious during graduation. He won a music award, and I think it was pretty obvious to everyone there why. That boy has some MOVES. I wish I could get a video to upload, but I guess I will just be excited that blogger is once again allowing me to post pics!

If we were going to live here through high school, I foresee a little love triangle (wait... love quadrangle? is there such a thing? or maybe that would be a square?) occurring... ZuZu has a crush on Moses' best friend, and the little sister of Moses' best friend has a crush on Moses. And of course, the girls wanted pictures taken with the boys. I would foresee these pairings for prom of 2024:




Hosanna was there, too- but as far as I know, she has no crushes yet... although I think Moses holds a pretty special place in her heart!

Perparing for the big day

I'll be posting pictures from Moses graduation later this week (after I narrow down which ones to post!), but I wanted to share first how Moses prepared himself for the big day.

On Sunday, we went to a couple graduation parties back in our hometown, so we gave the kids a bath at my parents before heading home. K didn't realize it, but a razor had fallen down into the tub, and when he looked over, Moses had it up to his lip- with blood starting to flow out.

K asked him several times if he was pretending to shave, to which he innocently replied, "No." We just assumed he didn't realize what the razor was.

Until we asked him again later that night. And the dialogue went something like this:

K: Moses, were you pretending to shave?
Moses: No.
Me: Okay.
Moses: I was really shaving.

Why yes. You are correct Moses. You were REALLY shaving.

At least he was clean-shaven for his graduation! After all, all males should be able to grow some facial hair before graduating. From preschool.

Fun Friday: DATE night

Since I am WEEKS behind on posting, I thought I would start with a Fun Friday from a few weeks ago. The first week in May, I had a trip for work to D.C. But the same day I was to fly back in was the preschool "date night" at Moses' school. So, to be sure I could make it in time, I took an EARLY flight ("early" as in the cab picked me up from the hotel at 4:30 am...) back to STL that morning.

I am SO GLAD I made it! The classes went miniature-golfing, and I can't even tell you how many times Moses said "that was FUN." After it was over, Moses and I stopped at the movie theater for buttery popcorn. Date night is definitely something Moses and I need to repeat on a regular basis!

This week Moses went to his best buddy's house for Fun Friday, and then when he got home we planted a few flowers. I love him SO MUCH!

I DID IT!

I got some pictures to upload! So I thought I would start with Moses' "kindergarten visit" day at his new school, which was a few weeks ago.

Here are K and Moses waiting for the visit to start. I was so proud of him. There were clearly a few kids nervous about being dropped off at a new school/different class. But Moses just marched right in!


The teacher he was with said he did well, and he was very proud of the clown he made "with squiggley hair":


He was also proud of his nametag. I started to tell him that the proper place to put a nametag is on the right, because people shake hands with their right hands and then the nametag is then clearly in eyeshot. But then I realized most kindergarteners probably aren't going to introduce themselves by shaking hands. It wasn't until later that I realized that most kindergarteners probably can't read, either...


At one time, I was totally sick to my stomach about Moses going to kindergarten. But now that we have him in this school, I feel so relaxed about it (that is, if God clears the big hurdles of MOVING so that we can be there!). Hopefully soon he will officially be a "Bethel Flame"- isn't he a big boy in front of his school?!

Is there an echo in here?

I'm going to try this again. Third- no seventeenth?- time is the charm?


I'm not trying to make excuses, but here's the thing: I don't know if it is blogger or our TERRIBLE internet provider, but I CANNOT get pictures to upload. And that really takes the steam out of blogging.


On top of that, at least one person in our house has been sick for the last 16 days.


And as I type this, I am again getting a message that "internet explorer cannot display the webpage" and that it can "diagnose connection problems." I'm sure it's a connection problem... but will Mediacom fix it? NOPE. GRRRRR!


So, here are a few updates:

• Hosanna (8 months) is crawling EVERYWHERE. She was crawling well by 7 months, and pulling up on things by 8 months. I think we are in for some trouble. She fully takes advantage of when the other kids are making noise, to quietly crawl off somewhere to eat shoes. But she is such a beam of sunshine. Always smiling... except when on prednisone. For those 5 days, she was like a totally different baby. But we think she is now on the mend and feeling more like herself... at least she is smiling like herself again!





• MOSES TURNED 5!!! He had a Toy Story party with family, and then a Toy Story party with friends. He and his friends were so cute. I made alien eyes for each of the kids. I would LOVE to post a picture. But, you know... And TODAY, he got his shots for Kindergarten. And let me tell you about PROGRESS. He sat there like a big boy and barely even flinched! Because he has a sensory processing disorder, I was able to convince the nurse to give us some anesthetic lotion a few hours before his appointment. Knowing that the shots wouldn't hurt as much gave him the confidence to sit there on the table without even seeming nervous. He is a real life superhero! When we got home tonight, he took off his shirt and strutted around showing off the spiderman band-aids on his arms. And I do mean STRUTTED. There is really no picture like a skinny 5-year-old strutting around the house with his shirt off... :)





• ZuZu still walks around the house like a little woman. She makes us laugh hysterically. Currently, her two favorite phrases are "I wuv you!" and "tha's my FAVE-rit!" Usually the "FAV-rit" phrase involves Moses' best friend. As in ZuZu saying, "G----. He's my FAVE-rit." That's right, folks. ZuZu already has a crush on her brother's best friend. We knew it would happen someday, we just didn't expect it to be so soon. So we have already had a conversation with Moses that, from now on, it looks like ZuZu is going to "like" his friends. And chances are, they are going to think she is pretty cute, too. And that we are sorry, but there is really nothing we can do about it. :)

The house is still on the market, so if you are local tell your friends! 2300 square feet, 4 large bedrooms, a screened-in porch, 5 walk-in closets, a whirlpool tub, and much more- for just 119,800! It's a fully updated, clean 100-year old home with original woodwork. Seriously, that's a steal! :)

One more thing- Moses had his "Kindergarten visit" day to his new school a few weeks ago- he was SO cute! I wish I could post some pictures... Anyway, we LOVE the school. We REALLY feel like God brought things together so that Moses could get in. Now He just needs to remove the HUGE obstacles (like selling our house!) that are standing in the way of us getting there!
