If you have read anything on here before, one of my common discussions involves the uniqueness of our rural community. This weekend we traveled to the Sweetcorn Festival in a nearby town. It did not disappoint!
True to its name, there was sweetcorn available. And as born and bred Midwesterners, we were ready to consume. What I wasn't expecting was this: all you can eat sweetcorn, for FREE. That's right. Get in line, get an ear of corn, and go stand at waist high tables consuming as much as you'd like. Go back as many times as you'd like. Salt and pepper were provided at the tables. The family we traveled with had been there before, and they knew to bring the spray on butter.
But, as if that wasn't small-town America enough, check out the method of disposal. Yes, this is K throwing his corn cob into the back of a dump truck.
Free food and easy clean-up: that is our kind of fun.
I continue to marvel at our surroundings.
