Update on ZuZu

After a LONG day, we got home about 7:00. The short story is that the doctor is not overly concerned; he is doing some tests for celiac disease and other conditions; and we will go back for follow-up in 4 weeks.

She was such a good girl! Everything was fine as long as we were in the waiting room, and she could be a big girl:

She DID NOT like being weighed and measured, but that is not new. And she had actually gained a few ounces since the 25th!
She had to have quite a bit of blood drawn for a little one, so they numbed a number of areas on her arms and feet. While we waited for the numbing to set in, she was bandaged up. She LOVED her pink bandages!

We strolled around for a while during the interim, and she charmed everyone she came in contact with. She was quite the little favorite there today!

Then the blood. Wow. What an ordeal! She had to be held down for 25 minutes for them to get enough blood. Fortunately, Kurt stayed with her and I go to be across the room. It was heartbreaking! Look at these curls created by the tears STREAMING down her face while she was laying there:

But Mommy was able to make everything better with a surprise in the car:

So now we wait. Oh- and collect stool samples. Of course after weeks of 6-8 stools a day, she has had NOT ONE today. Of course.

And funny story for the day: I put her in just a onesie for the ride there. I've been putting her in 9-12 month clothes, even though they are a little big (I don't want to buy 6-9 month spring clothes, in the hope that MAYBE one of these days she will hit a growth spurt). I thought maybe she had lost even more weight, because the onesie today just ENGULFED her. When we got to the hospital and I changed her clothes, I noticed that the onesie was actually a 12-18 mo onesie. Oops! I felt stupid, but at least she isn't shrinking that much!

My baby girl (gonna be 6 already in November WOW) Viola has a medical condition called Veinous Vascular Malformation. What it is, is she has too many veins in her leg, they tie in with her muscles. You can see, the veins, her whole leg, butt and foot are black n blue. when she was a baby, we spent the night in chicago (two days of testing) that your story reminds me of. I can even tell you that it was Nov 29th and 30th of 2005, because she spent her birthday there. Anyway, we had alot of tests, just like you are going thru. I know guys just how you feel. It is scarey, it is confusing (why YOUR child is going thru this) but I'm here to say tha you guys can do this. You are the sweetest people I know, and in teh end things will work out. God is Awesome (i really dont think I need to tell teh two of you that haha) and He will take care of her. Before I go :
dear God,please be with the Smiths during this trying and scary time with ZuZu. Please bless the doctors and staff, with the knowledge, and skills to help identify and treat what is going on with this little Angel. God we Love you and appreciate everything you have done, and continue to do and we trust in You. In your sons most precious name. Amen
