The sun came out, and dried up the rainy-rainy

Did I get that song stuck in anyone's head? :)

It’s been a good week—after 5 straight days of rain (Thursday through Monday), the sun finally decided to show up and dry things out. Here are some highlights of the week that brought a smile to my face:
  • I learned that Twinkies only have 4.5 grams of fat and 150 calories! BUT… I then went on to eat 2. And then looked up Twinkie-related recipes on the Hostess site.

  • I realized that I get to shop for a new dress for a fundraising gala at the Palmer House in Chicago in October. BUT… living in rural Illinois, there aren’t a lot of shops that sell gala-worthy maternity attire. And why spend 100s of dollars on a maternity dress I won’t likely wear again? And while my incredibly talented fashion designer SIL works here in NYC, I am stuck here settling for what I can get (I should have commissioned her for a dress!). I ordered this dress as a back-up in case I don't find anything shopping next weekend...

  • My Gymboree order from last week came in! BUT… then I looked at my credit card statement. Ouch.

  • I had a dream one night that Big Bird was delivering Easter Eggs filled with candy door-to-door on our street. That would have fulfilled one of my life goals—getting to hug Big Bird. BUT… then I woke up. And subsequently went back to sleep and dreamed that Moses’ preschool class had a pumpkin-selling fundraiser, and his pumpkins didn’t come in—making him the only child in the class that didn’t get a pumpkin. :(

  • And last but not least-- Moses knows the sounds of 19 letters! I quizzed him this week out of curiosity, and he could do the sounds of 19 letters. AMAZING! He can also read “sun,” “fun,” and “run.” There is no “But...” for this one! It’s incredible! He’s not even 2 ½ yet! I had hoped to have him reading by kindergarten, but since he already knows all his letters and most of their sounds, I think he could be reading by age 4!

I have a Twinkie Trifle recipe if you'd like it! It was my mom's.

I like the dress and the price is incredible!

And I love that one of your life goals is to hug big bird! If I see him, I'll send him your way.
