"Do I get a Piston Cup?"

That was Moses question when he saw the trophies at the AWANA grand prix today- and oh my goodness, I don't think I am going to make it as a parent. The intensity of competition... yikes. Can't everyone win? :)

But.... he DID win! He won all four of his races and earned first place!

I was SO proud of him. Not because he won, but... well, wait. I was proud if him because he won. Very proud. But that wasn't the only reason I was proud. I was proud of his attitude. He was cheering all of the kids along, and he didn't even notice those trophies until all of his races were over. And I was proud because he had worked so very hard on his car.

He helped PaPa with the dremel (for shaping the car):

He toughed it out through the loud noise (a HUGE deal for a kid with auditory sensory issues!) and blew away the saw dust:

He painted it (but I don't have any pictures of that, because I was the one helping him, and we did it on nights when K was at work).

He used the drill to sand the axles:

And he tapped the axles/wheels into place:

The first of the four races was against his best friend- UGH. I was hoping they wouldn't have to race each other!

We didn't get great pictures of the first two races- those cars go so fast, and if you aren't in the right place, you miss it. I have a few pictures of empty track. :)

But we got the third race:

We didn't realize this (below) was the race for First and Second until after it was over. The Mario car had been daunting everyone- it seriously flew down the track. Somehow we snapped this right as Lightning McQueen was catching up to take the lead!

From where I was, I couldn't even tell who won. K got a great flip video of me saying "Did he win?!"

I love this picture, because he doesn't even know his "Piston Cup" is coming...

He also ended up getting a trophy for "People's Choice"- people voted with pennies for their favorite car. He went to sleep with both of his "Piston Cups" last night. :)

great pics!
another super-sweet moment I know of- he let ZuZu carry 1 trophy to the car.
"It's a good day". said Moses.
