The week started out pretty normal—Monday was a slow work day, because the Chicago office was closed due to weather. K and I had a long talk about work, schedules, etc., trying to figure out what exactly God wants us to be doing with our time. I had said to him, “I’m just so apathetic right now. It would be different if I had a brief to work on.”
Apparently, God was listening.
On Tuesday afternoon, I was asked by an ally attorney to draft a brief in less than one week (3 weeks is typical). That meant drafting a motion to file the brief, lining up a local attorney to sign everything, lining up the clients, researching, drafting, editing, etc. I told our legal director that I thought I could do it—as long as I wasn’t asked to testify before a state legislative committee in the next week on the constitutionality of a bill (I knew that was a possibility sometime this spring).
Tuesday was great—God really helped me do all of the legwork, so that I could research and draft the rest of the week. Wednesday was NOT so great—I had to deal with a really nasty attorney who wasn’t even involved in the case. Thursday, things were looking up again—until I got the call that I am to testify next week! I asked our legal director if she thought I would be ready—she said yes, as long as the hearing isn’t on Tuesday.
The hearing is on Tuesday.
I think I have more work to do than is humanly possible. Yet somehow, God has helped me get almost everything done! This is good, because tomorrow K is painting, Sunday is church and a potluck, Sunday afternoon is a church board meeting, Sunday night K is preaching at a community Lenten service, Monday I need to focus on my oral testimony, and Tuesday is the legislative hearing in another state…
Yikes, typing it all out is scary.
BUT, I have totally seen God working in our family this week. I always forget that I perceive things as what is “humanly possible”—not as what is God-possible! It's definitely been one of those weeks that only comes about because God wants to teach me something. I hope I learned it, so He doesn't have to go to the trouble of orchestrating a week like this again. :)
And now for the aboslute joys of my life (i.e., other ways God has been so good to me):
(Moses DEFINITELY gets his hair from Daddy!)

Wow. Wow, wow, wow. (Did I say 'wow'?) Craziness.
That is so awesome that God has enabled you to get all your work done...how, I have no clue, but we know that He is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine.
Have a great weekend!
