6 am Wake-Up Call

Okay, so I was SUPPOSED to get up around 5, and at 6 I was still in bed. But in my defense, it was storming and raining, and DARK, so it didn't feel like I was sleeping in too late...

And then the noise. K's description was best: it sounded like someone was starting a dirt bike outside our bathroom window. It went on intermittently for the next hour, but we could do nothing about it because it was so dark (and stormy) that you couldn't see outside yet.

When it was finally light enough, K went outside to investigate. Was it a dirt bike? Was it a woodpecker pecking on something metal outside our house? Was it something in the plumbing? (It did kind of sound like air in the plumbing in an old house...).

None of the above. Just a vent with a flap in it that was catching in the wind.

All that excitement for such a boring conclusion.

is it a flap in which a bat could enter?

Nope-- it has a cover, but the cover lets air in (well, out, i guess, since it's a vent)... But it has been "bat-proofed."

Speaking of which, K is heading to the attic today to see what the warm weather hath wrought...
